Could I Be Pregnant?
An unexpected pregnancy can leave you scared and overwhelmed. Don’t panic! Your first step is to take a pregnancy test and verify that you really are pregnant. Although you may have taken a pregnancy test at home, you owe it to yourself to have a lab-quality test performed. New Hope Center’s tests are free and 99.9% accurate. Our staff can provide immediate results, which will be confidential and judgment-free.
Why Do I Need a Lab-Quality Pregnancy Test?
A pregnancy test detects the presence of hCG, the hormone released during pregnancy. Although home pregnancy tests have improved over the years, if the test is taken too early or administered incorrectly, the results can be inaccurate. It’s important for a nurse or trained mentor to administer the pregnancy test to decrease the chance of error.
During your appointment, you will be asked to give a urine sample. We will be with you when you see the results and can answer any questions you have. If the test is positive, we will explain your options – parenting, abortion, or adoption. If you are considering an abortion, lab-quality pregnancy test results are required in Kentucky before you can obtain an abortion.
If My Test is Positive, What’s Next?
If your pregnancy test is positive, the next step will be to confirm that you have a viable pregnancy through ultrasound, which New Hope Center also provides at no cost to you.
What If I’m Not Ready for My Family and Friends to Know.?
Telling your friends and family is completely up to you. All services at New Hope Center are completely confidential, and we will not tell anyone. Your privacy is important to us, and our main concern is making sure you are healthy and informed of your options.
