| I’ve already had an abortion and don’t want another one. What are my options?

When an unexpected pregnancy occurs and you know abortion isn’t the decision you want to make this time, you’re likely asking many questions.

At New Hope Center, we help you take things one step at a time. You’re not alone. Our compassionate mentors offer free and confidential services to support you as you explore what’s next.

Is Parenting Right for Me?

Parenting can feel like a significant responsibility, especially if you’re unsure where to find resources or whether you have a strong support system. However, with the proper help, this option is possible. We’ll be with you every step of the way.

It’s normal to have questions, including:

  • What about parenting excites or worries me?
  • What support do I have in place?
  • Will the baby’s father be involved?
  • Can I physically, emotionally, and financially provide for a child?
  • What resources would I need to succeed?

At New Hope Center, we provide free parenting classes to help you feel equipped to raise your child. These classes will allow you to earn material items like diapers and clothing. Additionally, we provide emotional support, personalized guidance, and referrals.

What About Adoption?

Adoption is an option you might consider if parenting doesn’t feel like the right fit. It allows you to shape your child’s future, including choosing the adoptive family and deciding how much communication you prefer.

If you’re considering adoption, these questions might come up:

  • How much contact would I like to have with my child?
  • What kind of future and family do I envision for them?
  • What support (i.e., emotional, financial, material) would I need during the process?
  • What questions do I have about adoption?

If you decide on this option, you’ll choose the best adoption plan for your situation and preferences. Open adoption allows for an ongoing relationship between you, the child, and the adoptive family. Semi-open adoption allows for communication through a third party and offers limited identifying information. Closed adoption, on the other hand, keeps all details completely confidential.

New Hope Center has strong adoption partners that can help determine whether this option is right for you. Remember, you’ll never pay for adoption or medical services. Our partners are here to provide non-judgmental, comprehensive support.
